Email Banner stuck at bottom of iPhone screen

There is a banner from an old email stuck at the bottom of my iPhone screen, regardless of the different email accounts I open. I did find and read a related post, and deleted and reloaded all my email accounts as suggested. But that did not solve the problem. Tired of looking at it everytime I open mail. Any other suggestions to try? Thanks

Only way I solved this issue on my iPhone was by deleting the Mail app and then installing it again (restore).

Consequently I had to add my various mailboxes again.

Other solutions I tried that did NOT work : deleting mailbox, deleting emails or drafts, closing app.

This is a real bug in the app.

Welcome Swede84,

To help us better understand the situation, please let us know if the email banner is a notification that appears on every screen of your device, or if it is only appearing in the Mail app.

If you haven’t already, we’d like suggest force quitting the Mail app, then launching again. If the issue persists, restart your iPhone.

Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

iPhone X and later
1. From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle of the screen.
2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.

Restart your iPhone

How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

Thanks.

Thanks AnnieL2. Tried your suggestions again and banner still appears at bottom of Mail App. To answer your related question, the email banner only appears in the Mail App. Specifically it is the subject line of a forwarded email message. Appears in both Gmail and AOL accounts. No issues on MacBook or Webmail.

Wondering if I should just delete Mail App, and then reinstall Mail App and Email accounts? Always worry a move like this creates "collateral damage" on iPhone or other devices??

Hello Swede84,

We completely understand, and we'll do all we can to help. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Mail app as described here to see if that resolves the issue: Delete built-in Apple apps from your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch - Apple Support

"When you delete a built-in app from your device, you also delete any related user data and configuration files. This can affect things like related system functions or information on your Apple Watch.

Built-in apps that you can delete from iPhone or iPad

If you have iOS 14 or later or iPadOS, you can delete these apps from your device:

  • Activity7
  • Apple Books1
  • Apple TV
  • Calculator7
  • Calendar
  • Clock
  • Compass7
  • Contacts2
  • FaceTime3
  • Files
  • Find My5
  • Health4 7
  • Home
  • iTunes Store
  • Mail
  • Maps1
  • Measure
  • Music1
  • News (where available)
  • Notes
  • Podcasts1
  • Reminders
  • Shortcuts
  • Stocks
  • Tips
  • Translate7
  • TV (where available)
  • Voice Memos
  • Wallet
  • Watch app6 7
  • Weather

Delete a built-in app from your device

On your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Touch and hold the app.
  2. Tap Remove App from the shortcut menu.
  3. Tap Delete App from the submenu.

If you have Apple Watch, deleting an app from your iPhone also deletes that app from your Apple Watch.

On your Apple Watch:

  1. Press the Digital Crown to show all your apps on the Home Screen.
  2. Touch and hold the display until the View Options screen appears.
  3. Tap Edit Apps.
  4. Tap the Delete button  on the app that you want to delete, then tap Delete App to confirm.
  5. Press the Digital Crown to finish.

If you delete a built-in app from your Apple Watch that is also on your iPhone, such as Contacts, the app isn't deleted from your iPhone.

Restore a built-in app that you deleted

  1. On your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, go to the App Store.
  2. Search for the app. Make sure that you use the exact name of the app.
  3. Tap the Redownload button .
  4. Wait for the app to restore, then open it from your Home Screen.

If you have Apple Watch, restoring an app to your iPhone also restores that app to your Apple Watch."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
