How to use live text on ipad

Sorry to say that a 5th gen iPad is not supported for the Live Text feature.

Click the link at the top of that page "Supported Models" to see that only 9th gen iPad and later, or 5th gen iPad Mini and later are capable.

The Live Text feature is limited to relatively recent models of iPad. Here is a direct link to the relevant page of the Guide:

As you’ll note, these are the iPad models that support Live Text, Visual Look Up, and lifting a subject from the background:

• iPad mini (5th generation and later)
• iPad (9th generation and later)
• iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
• iPad Pro 11-inch (all generations)
• iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
