How to keep capturdate on photos

The finder, do not keep, anything, anymore?? Why. When I take one of my pictures, and change it for maybe a smaller file (for web or), in photoshop - everything; capturedate change to same date as the change date, and all info about the picture (camera settings etc) are goon - that really bad. How do I get this to work properly again??

I tried it in Photoshop 2023 and after downscaling and saving as .jpg, it preserves metadata date ExifIFD:DateTimeOriginal (can be checked with Preview.app or in Finder's preview mode), as well as Author, Description, Title, GPS.

But as usual, the file dates are current (because it is a new file). But it is a breeze to sync also file dates with metadata dates with 3rd party apps (GraphicConverter, Better Finder Rename, exiftool etc), if the user wants.
