I attempted 5 days so far (since I set up my new iMac 24") to set the desktop background to "Randomly" rotate the background through Auto-Rotate Photos (using Hourly, Daily, and When Awakened from Sleep). Nothing changes.

Well, try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.

Can you post a screen shot of the settings you set?
Just curious, does it work if you select the "Pictures" folder? You'll have to change it from "Every Day" of course.

It doesn't seem to; also, I unplugged the second screen. No change. My old 2015 iMac, with the second screen, did randomly change using my Photos app, and each screen had a different photo, which was fine with me.
Right after I sent this photo to you, the "All Photos, Auto-Rotate" box was no longer "framed", if that makes sense.
Thanks. I have no Macs with an external monitor so I don't know if that's an issue or not. You'll have to wait for other replies.
