Apple Watch SE 2 Display Stutter

Hi there. I bought a brand new Apple Watch SE 2 from a store close to me (still 1.5 hours away one way but still the closest haha) on the 2nd of July - and I got the 44mm SE2.

I have had no issues with the device, other than the fact that the display is (from my eye-sight) quite poorly stuttering and has quite iffy display performance when doing even the simplest tasks like scrolling through my watch faces, or scrolling through settings. It’s as if when I do certain things like scrolling down - the display seems to want to drop below what feels like “40fps”/“40hz” which from an Apple Smartwatch perspective - is definitely not what I expected…

I have disabled most un-needed apps in the background refresh settings, as well as closing all apps that were open. I have tried hard restarting the watch itself as well, but to no avail.

I would upload a video - but sadly Apple Forums does not support that functionality.

I appreciate the time you take in trying to help me, as this is a really pesky and annoying issue!

So when you’re scrolling in apps or just in the home screen in general, you don’t see any lag or stutter at all? Because from what I’m experiencing it does not seem that it’s staying at 60 FPS or 60 Hz. It seems like it constantly drops below that number and feels like I’m using a low power device, which doesn’t feel like what I bought. And this is when I’m doing anything from scrolling in apps to just being on the home screen.

Hi,

I purchased a brand new Apple watch se 2022 44mm, two weeks ago. (Correction : Watch is not using io17, is it using watch os 10)

It is my first apple watch and is paired to an iphone se 2022 (ios 17). I found most of the time, the framerate of the apple watch se 2022 feels like 40fps when using the touchscreen. However, using the side button to scroll it is very smooth and feels like its 60fps. Also animations seem to be smooth when not using the touchscreen.

Something about using the touchscreen is causing the framerate to drop.. It has been doing it ever since I first used the watch and rebooting the watch hasn't helped.

Is this similar to what you're experiencing?

I may have to pop into the Apple store as it doesn't seem right.
