Colour of text in pages

I am using pages. It typed in gold colour. I can alter it to black by editing using select and change. However I cannot change it to type in black. I try in settings. It shows as it should be black but no …..gold?

You do not change the text color of selected text by choosing Highlight.


You click the paint brush in the Pages for iOS/iPadOS toolbar and on its opened panel, you then have access to the text color inkwell where you can choose black, or by following the > symbol to the right of that inkwell, you have access to other colors. Simply by tapping black, or any other color, the selected text in the document changes to that color.
