Setting up Apple ID settings
I'm trying to set up my apple ID settings on my Macbook but when it prompts for the passcode I use for my iphone, it says it is incorrect even though I use that passcode to unlock my iphone.

Hi,
You would need to input "password", instead of "passcode".

Your phone's passcode is not the same as your MacBook's password. That might be if you made them that way, but you use your Mac's login password to open your Mac. And from the error message you reference, you didn't set them to be the same.
You created your Mac's password when you went through the initial set up routine. If you didn't have a setup screen upon first power up, the Mac is not new and it's anybody's guess what the password is.
And that brings you back to kaz-k's post.
Hi,
Try to set your MacBook Pro from the scratch with recovery mode.

I know that my iphone's passcode is different from my Macbook's password. The problem is, when I enter the iphone's passcode it tells me it is incorrect, even though I know it is correct as it unlocks my iphone. Are you really not able to tell me how to finish setting up my Apple ID settings?
That doesn't work. Now it's saying "The passcode for "Joe's iPhone" was entered incorrectly too many times". What should I do?
What are the consequences if I set my MacBook Pro from scratch? Why do I need to do this? It is a new Macbook, what do you think is wrong with it?
