Can't seem to get FaceTime to recognize my iPhone SE (2022) as a webcam on my iMac 24"

I've looked at the document HT213244 about using your iPhone as a webcam with Continuity Camera, but when I pull down the Video menu in FaceTime, I don't see an option to choose my iPhone SE (2022) as the camera. The only potentially relevant menu item is 'Automatic Camera Selection' which I can toggle on or off but I don't see that either option would help me choose my iPhone. Does that only appear if the phone is mounted? I'm fine for now to just hold it in my hand and having a wireless connection.

I have Continuity Camera turned on in my iPhone settings, but I don't see how to get the iMac to see the iPhone. Thanks for any help.

Somehow having my iPhone mounted made the difference, and I now can use the Video menu in FaceTime to switch back and forth between the iMac camera and the iPhone camera. Pretty cool. I don't quite understand how mounting the iPhone made it work; can the OS sense if a phone is mounted or not? I'll have to experiment with that.

Hello rick7,

We see that you're having an issue using your iPhone as a webcam on your iMac.

If you're trying to use the desk view, the iPhone SE would be excluded from being able to use this feature according to the resource you've already been looking at.

Also, make sure that both devices are running the latest version of software on them to ensure that it isn't a software issue. If needed, the pages below will guide you through the steps to make sure the devices are updated.

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

And you will want to be sure that the iPhone is actually mounted. This seems to be an important piece to using this feature per the article on "Continuity Camera: Use iPhone as a webcam for Mac".

If you've tried all of these steps and ensured the devices are updated, you may want to reach out to Apple Support directly to have this looked into further.
