Disable Amber Alert Notifications

Turning off Amber alerts turns off only Amber alerts.

In the US, there are four categories of these alerts:

1. National alerts issued by the President of the United States or the Administrator of FEMA
2. Alerts involving imminent threats to safety or life
3. Amber Alerts about missing children
4. Alerts conveying recommendations for saving lives and property

The first cannot be disabled. The rest can be.

Here are the steps on how to temporarily turn off Amber Alert notifications on your iPhone or Android device:

On iPhone:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap on Notifications.
3. Scroll down and tap on Government Alerts.
4. Toggle off the AMBER Alerts switch.

You can also silence Amber Alerts at night by following these steps:

On iPhone:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap on Notifications.
3. Scroll down and tap on Government Alerts.
4. Under Sounds & vibration, tap on When phone is locked.
5. Select Silent.

Please note that turning off Amber Alerts will also turn off other important emergency alerts, such as Presidential Alerts and Extreme Weather Alerts. If you are concerned about the safety of your grandchildren, you may want to consider turning off the alerts only at night or when they are asleep.
