iOS 16.5.1 iPhone 14 Screen Time calculation seems grossly exaggerated ...
I have felt this for weeks. But let's just look at todays data. Currently showing me as follows:
- Total screen time today (so far @4:15 pm ET) is 5 hours 20 minutes
- Of this the top usage goes to "Messages" with 2h 15m.
- Next are Phone at 57m, WhatsApp 27m, Safari 25m, NY Times 25m, Reminders 20m and so on
- For the Messages bucket, I have a total of 9 conversations that show an updated timestamp since midnight last night.
- Of these 9, 7 are text messages of the type providing 2-factor codes or bank or credit card transaction updates. Of the 7 4 are still unread. Only two conversation are what would normally be classified as iMessage. These two conversations consist of a total of 7 text messages. If I add up the lines on the iPhone screen these add up to 23 lines on the narrow iPhone screen.
- IMHO there's no way I spent more than 10 minutes (a generous estimate) on iMessage since last night. How on earth is Screen Time reporting 2 hrs and 15 mins??
Can someone from Apple please review the above and suggest to me what's going on? I'll be happy to provide additional data to get to the bottom of this.
