It's possible that the host site (the website where the programmes are stored) is offline, perhaps for maintenance, or to move their Podcast to another hosting service. If so, it may not be possible to download episodes until site is back online.

Try again on Monday and if the problem continues contact the Podcaster directly. You should be able to find contact details on the relevant Podcast page in the store, even if the podcast itself is offline. If you have no success there, try doing an online search for the Podcast series and see if you can find contact details there.

this happens with my podcasts

Yes, I understood that from your first post and the subject heading. My reply was focused on podcasts.

Podcasts are not hosted by Apple, despite the inference caused by the message that you have seen. All the iTunes Store does is list them. When you subscribe, or simply ask to download an episode, that request is sent to the Podcast host's website, where the programmes are stored. The requested episode is sent from that location, to your iTunes Library. In effect, the podcast does not go via or through the iTunes Store.

However, the initial request may go via the store and if the store is offline for any reason, then again, you may not be able to download podcasts.

"Try again later" contains no specific time frame, so it's impossible to state when the issue may be resolved. But at the end of the day it is in the Podcaster's interest to ensure that people can download their programmes. So if the problem continues beyond a reasonable time, it's reasonable to contact the Podcaster about the problem. Once the Podcaster becomes aware of the issue, their main concern at that time will be to get their podcast available again.

You could spend the time waiting to find out the contact details, in case you need to use them.
