Iphone 14 Pro Max silent switch not working

Brand new out of the box and my silent switch is not working. I also tried the touch silent mode and it too fails to silence ringer for calls. I have a feeling it may be software related (16.5.1)

Any ideas?

Disabled vibrations and haptics: I turned off all vibrations and haptics, but this did not resolve the issue. Despite these steps, the issue continues. It feels like a hardware issue with the silent mode switch, but I’d like to hear if anyone else has faced this and whether there’s a potential software fix or additional troubleshooting steps to try before pursuing a hardware repair. Hello Apache0605!

When the Silent Switch is ON (showing orange) and one of your “Favourited” Contacts calls you, the Silent Switch will NOT silence the call. Nor will it silence alarms.
