Fraud is illegal, a gym membership is not illegal. Credit card companies work to prevent fraud. The fact that a fraud prevention feature doesn’t interfere with subscriptions and memberships is a positive feature. I have probably dozens of various types of subscriptions tied to a credit card. If my card is fraudulently used, it’s easy to change the number and maintain my current subscriptions and memberships. I don’t want to go and change my information in all those companies to maintain subscriptions.

The feature works excellently for it’s intended purpose.

Not sure what your referring to talking about auto update feature. But in my experience Advanced Fraud Protection works great.
