Screen Time

My parents had set a screen time on my phone as a teenager and when my 18th birthday was coming up I was hoping due to my age, I would be able to override these settings but unfortunately for me that was not the case as I can't change any of the screentime settings. Why is that?

Hey there

We'd like to provide an article that shows how to disable Screen Time on your device: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If you'd like to disable Screen Time, then we'd recommend asking your parents to disable it as they set it. If they happened to forget the Screen Time password, the same article lists the steps to take next for resetting it.

We’d also like to provide a link you can use to submit product feedback for consideration: Product Feedback

Cheers!

Screen Time settings can be used on a family members device no matter the age. They would still need to remove the Screen Time settings if you are part of the family plan. The are only a couple age related restrictions, one is that a child under the age of 13 must be part of a Family Sharing plan, because they are not able to have their own Apple ID. Another is the option of Ask to Buy. It cannot be turned on for accounts with an age over 18. But if it's turned on before the age of 18, it can remain turned on past 18 indefinitely. Once turned off after the age of 18, it cannot be turned on again however.
