iOS 16.5.1 Battery Heat and Draining Issues 🪫☠️

"I wanted to share my experience with iOS 16.5.1 and the battery heat and draining issues I've been facing. Recently, I've been receiving notifications about 'Charging on Hold'. Additionally, my phone gets extremely hot while charging, even when it's not in use.

What's more concerning is the rapid battery depletion. After putting my phone to sleep and waking it up, the battery percentage often shows less than 20%. Even without any usage, the battery can't hold a charge for more than three to four hours, and it drops below 40%.

Moreover, the magnetic charger itself gets hot, and the phone stops charging due to the high temperature. These issues have made me question whether I need to purchase a new model. I believe it's important to share these experiences with the Apple community in hopes of finding a solution or raising awareness. Has anyone else encountered similar problems with iOS 16.5.1?" it’s not format issue or restart! it’s look like Apple telling me buy new model.

Some activities such as charging or a lot of computational activity, generate heat. Some warmth is to be anticipated.* Read this article about keeping your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures - If your iPhone or iPad gets too hot or too cold - Apple Support

If you think there is a problem with a device, have Apple inspect it. Go to this page to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Apple Authorized Distributor (AAD) --> Find Locations

How long have you had the phone? Losing 1-2% capacity a month is average so, if you've had the phone for 10 months or more, 90% is with in the normal range.

One of the biggest factors that can affect battery life is your cellular signal. If it's weak, you will lose battery very quickly. What is your cellular signal like?

I also have all of Siri off, spotlight search off, system haptics & keyboard haptics off as well. My iPhone 13 Pro Max only lasts 5-7 hours of screen time use. Most of the time it’s on Wi-Fi. I preordered it when it first came out. The part I’m dissatisfied with is it’s less than 2 years old & used to last 10-12 hours of screen time use & even with these battery saving settings it drains crazy & lasts approximately 5-7 hours of screen time use. I don’t think that phone model should be draining like that for it’s age, battery saving settings, etc. normally 1-2 bars out of 4 at my home. (The cellular data signal) it’s 2 out of 4 as I’m typing this, lol)

Capacity battery is 86% as always, and such things always happen immediately after the update! Battery life has nothing to do with the update, problem come after the update! the device becomes not compatible with the wireless charger due to the high temperatures in the charger and in the device, even after formatting it and after deleting a lot of apps the problem persists 🪫

If you are using optimized battery charging and you are using fast charging, once your phone gets to 80% charged, it will stop and say "Charging on Hold" until it's time to finish charging. For me, this is around 6am (I get up at 7:30a). Optimized charging has always worked that way but now, it tells you what's happening. It doesn't mean anything is wrong.

Or perhaps it's just time for a new battery. Go to Settings>Battery>Battery Health. What does it say for the Maximum Capacity? If it's at or below 80%, you need a new battery. Much cheaper than buying a new phone.

If you need a new battery, you can follow the highly relevant instructions in the post above by Limnos.
