Apple iCal US holidays calendar unsubscribe

Why can't you unsubscribe from Apple’s US Holidays calendar? I don’t mind being inclusive but this calendar includes half of the holidays on the planet and just clutters my calendar. I know I can turn it off, but I just want to get rid of it all together.
