IPhone cannot accept passes

My wife’s iPhone 12 will not accept boarding passes sent by AirDrop. I can AirDrop any other file or photo to her phone, but if I download our boarding passes into my wallet and then try to send hers by AirDrop, I receive a pop-up message stating “Lynne cannot accept passes.” If I do the process in reverse (download both passes into her phone and then AirDrop mine to my phone), it works fine. Her software is up to date. I can not find any setting that would preclude her specifically from receiving passes. I am able to send her the passes via Messages, but that requires wifi or cell service, and we often don’t have access while traveling.

And please don’t waste my time teaching me how to AirDrop or update my software; that is not the issue.

This is generally a function of the pass provider (the airline) as to whether passes can be “transferred” between users.

As airline boarding passes have obvious security implications, I’m not surprised that they won’t transfer.

She’ll probably need to login to the Airline’s website (or app) herself to add passes to her wallet.

As to why it works one way and not the other … 🤷🏼

Perhaps it has to do with which Airline account purchased the tics ?

Also, WiFi does need to be “on” on both phones; although the phones will create their own peer-to-peer connection.

Not at all a helpful answer. Her phone won’t accept passes via airdrop. She can send them to other phones, but can’t receive them from any phone. There is something with airdrop (or with wallet) that is blocking her from receiving any passes. This has nothing to do with airline security. The same passes that can be airdropped into my phone aren’t accepted in hers.
