Shortcut magic variables on Apple Watch

I wrote a very simple shortcut to select one of two options from a menu, then append the current date (current daye magic variable), some appropriate text, and the town/city (derived from current location magic variable) to a notepad.

Initially this worked fine on my iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

However after a bit of debugging/development the shortcut still works fine on iPhone/iPad but when run on Watch it only adds the text and not the date or location details.

I have deleted the shortcut from both Watch & iPhone and reset both.

Recreated the shortcut but still same problem.

Any ideas why this is happening?
