Using Lynksys Ax4200 with Airport Extreme

Hi All.

I'm upgrading my home network with Lynksys AX4200 devices. Previously, we had a comcast router plugged into an Airport Extreme in the basement that fed two time capsules on the first and second floor, respectively.

I'm replacing each time capsule with an AX4200 and Time Machine drive. Can I still hardwire these through the Airport Extreme? Are there benefits and/or drawbacks in doing so?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If this means that you are planning to connect a USB hard drive to one or more of the Linksys AX4200 devices and expecting that to work with Time Machine to back up your Mac(s), I'll be amazed if this works.

I see nothing in the Linksys specifications that would indicate compatibility with Time Machine and a USB drive connected to the Linksys device, so best to check with Linksys about this before you go much further

Yes, you can hardwire the Linksys devices to the AirPort Extreme, but I would not recommend that you do this since marrying new Wi-Fi devices to an Apple router that was designed 10 years ago would not really make much sense.

The "main" Linksys device in the mesh system would be the logical replacement for the AirPort Extreme, so you would need a 3 piece Linksys system.
