Apple Pay

My payment method is updated but I still have a notification on my settings saying I need to update it. How do I make it go away? Do I need to add a second form of payment?

iPhone 13, iOS 16

If you have updated your payment method on your iPhone 13 but continue to receive a notification in the settings asking you to update it, there could be a few possible explanations for this issue:

  1. It's possible that the notification is related to the verification of your Apple ID rather than the payment method itself. Sometimes, Apple prompts users to verify their account information periodically for security purposes. Even if your payment method is updated, the verification prompt may still appear. Try going to the "Settings" app, select your Apple ID profile at the top, and verify or update any necessary account details.
  2. In some cases, the notification may be indicating that there is an issue with your payment method, even if you believe it's updated. It's worth double-checking the details of your payment method to ensure that the information is correct, including the billing address, card number, expiration date, and security code. Also, make sure the payment method is valid and has sufficient funds available.
  3. Probably you are using Multiple IDs for multiple services. Use the same Apple ID every time you sign in to use all Apple services like the App Store, iCloud, iMessage, and FaceTime. Your Apple ID is the account you use to access Apple services like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and more. It contains the email address and password you use to sign in, plus all of the contacts, payment, and security details you use for all Apple services. Here are some of the most common services that you can access with your Apple ID:
    1. App Store & Apple Arcade
    2. Apple Books
    3. Apple Music & Music Purchases
    4. Apple News
    5. Apple Online Store
    6. Apple Pay, Apple Card, and Apple Cash
    7. Apple Podcasts
    8. Apple Retail Services and Programs (Concierge, Joint Venture, Workshops and Youth Programs)
    9. Apple Store App
    10. Apple Support Communities
    11. AppleTV, Apple TV +, and Apple TV channels
    12. FaceTime
    13. ShareFamilies
    14. Find My
    15. Game Center
    16. iCloud
    17. iMessage
    18. iTunes
    19. Sign in to Apple

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.

To improve understanding of the phenomenon, it would be highly beneficial if you could share a screenshot. Visual representations carry greater impact than written descriptions.

Please remember that this is a public forum, so when attaching a screenshot, please avoid including any personal credentials such as IP addresses, card details, email IDs, Apple IDs, IMEI numbers, serial numbers, phone numbers, order IDs, or any identifiable location information if you are sharing a map.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.
