Deleted Mac Mail Keeps Reappearing!!!

I use mac mail with my .mac account (also have icloud)

When I'm on Mac Mail on my computer, emails I've delete from my inbox (trying to clear out the past few years) first go to my trash, then slowly start to come back into my inbox!

Yes I have permanently deleted them. Somehow nothing works.

Please HELP! This is aggravating and its taking up so much space because I have emails from the past 4 years still in there!

I've had my .mac account for a long time?? Not sure if that has anything to do with it?

When you check email with POP, it stores locally on your computer or device. And you can have the preference to delete immediately from the server if you so desire, or not to at all. It sounds to me as though you haven't chosen to delete it immediately from the server, and why it sees the email again.

If you copy messages from an IMAP inbox into an on my Mac mailbox, using the Option key on the Mac and seeing the green circle with a white plus sign, that does not delete the message from the server. And so if you delete from the folder on your Mac, but go to recheck messages on your iPhone, the message will still be there.

iCloud folders are on the server.
