Apple TV 4K remote and Bose Solo Soundbar Control

I have an Apple TV 4K and want to control my Bose solo sound bar II with the Apple remote. The Apple remote does not automatically control the sound bar so you are supposed to go into the settings under remotes and devices and then under volume control and choose learn new device. From there it will ask you to point the Bose remote at the Apple TV, and push the volume up button, then the volume down button than the mute button. Once you’ve done this, the remote should be configured properly to control your Apple TV and your Bose sound bar. However, this does not work for me when I point the Bose remote at the AppleTV and push volume up button nothing happens it’s like it doesn’t see it and I can’t go any further . This is not a normal configuration issue. There is some kind of glitch and I’m looking for a solution.

I have found the solution to my own problem and thought I would post to hear for others. For some reason, there is a glitch or incompatibility between this model of sound bar and maybe others and the Apple TV, where the Apple TV cannot see the signal from the Bose remote directly. The workaround is to go out and buy a cheap universal remote control. You then program that universal remote to work with your sound bar by following the instructions that come with the universal remote. Then you follow the steps to configure your Apple TV as outlined above and this time it will work. For some reason if you program a third-party, remote and then use that remote to program your Apple TV, it works .
