why are not the original info from pictures kept by copy paste

why are not the original info from pictures kept by copy paste? I want to save some pictures on my hard drive but they appear as new made and not the original location and date...why?

You should not copy/paste from your Photo library to the Desktop. You should select the Photos syosu want to get on the Desktop and export them as either original (unedited) or the edited version.


The new file will have a current "File Creation" date which is seen by the Finder. However, the EXIF Creation Date will be unchanged and embedded within the file. It can be see by apps that can read the EXIF fields like Preview.
