Where to send empty toner cartridges for recycling?

I've got a couple of empty Apple-branded toner cartridges from my old LaserWriters. I feel a little guilty about just pitching them in the trash, but I can't find a hassle-free place to send them to for recycling.

Anyone here know of a place?

I know Apple used to have a toner recycling program, but as they've been out of the printer business for at least a decade now, I imagine that their program is now defunct. I checked their website just to be sure, but found no information.

TIA

You can still send spent cartridges to:

Cartridge Return Center
Gloucester Business Park, Route 17
Gloucester, VA 23061

Or return them to any savvy Elementary school, where they often have PTA members who have discovered ways to redeem them for money for the school.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to obliterate ALL Trademarks and Brand names, and deface any genuine Boxes you are returning. Otherwise, you give unscrupulous resellers the opportunity to claim
"Genuine Apple cartridge, damaged box" for cartridges that are obvious re-builds.
