Retrieving a voice message from previous phone?

Is it possible for me to retrieve a voice message from a previous phone that was never transferred to the new phones? This is regarding my nephew who has passed, and his mother is desperate to hear this voice messages also. Thank you. PS I still have the original phone! How do I get your response?
