USB-A to USB-C cable works fine in one outlet with USB option but not on the other one I bought

the cable works fine in one outlet on my kitchen island but not on the newer one I bought, I would have to use the adapter plug which I don't want to as it can get knocked by people or chair. Why might it not work on the newer outlet? The USB-A to lightning cable works fine for the Iphone.

iPhone 15 Pro usbc to usbc charger and CarPlay I am considering the iPhone 15, but it seems to only have a USB-C to USB-C connection. This is a problem for me because I only have USB-A in my 2023 4Runner. Without the USB-A to lightning connection, my CarPlay does not work. I have tried an adapter, which was USB-A male to USB-C female. The cable that I used was USB-C male to lightning male. I plugged the lightening end to my current iPhone 11Pro. This did not work for me. Does anyone know if a special adapter might be necessary for this to work or if it would work? Thanks.

As described, the outlet with which you are experiencing difficulties needs to be checked by a qualified electrician.
