I am about to purchase an M2 Mac Mini. Can i use my late-2015 iMac as a display for it?

but you could try Luna Display.
sorry, no. an M2 Mac is too new to use target display mode.
you may wish to make sure before spending money
their site says
Luna Display only supports devices running macOS, iPadOS, and Windows 10. Luna does not work on Android, Linux, or ARM-based devices.
and m2 is an arm based cpu
also a normal 1080p monitor are not too expensive and would use much less power than an imac does
You're not confused. With respect to Apple-Silicon-based (ARM-based) Macs, Astropad's Web site is ambiguous / inconsistent.
I suspect they meant to say that they do not support ARM-based Windows and Linux PCs, and were just sloppy, but you'll have to ask them if you want official clarification.

I don't think I'll go that far. I only posted the link to luna display because I have seen others here posting it as a reply, and possible solution, to other user's related questions. I think I will just avoid supplying the link to these types of questions. :)
their page shows this:
am I just confused?
maybe the text I pasted was outdated, or worded poorly as one can get windows 10 on arm cpu too
OK. thanks.
