Apps broken by this update. please fix it! ?

After installing this security update the Feedly App won't work on my M1 iMac. FaceBook does not work well. Feedly works at the website using Safari or Chrome. Facebook works fine on Chrome, but not on Safari.

Settings also says I cannot use my ApplePay because I don't auto update. But I do auto update, but not Beta updates.

I checked MacBook Pro M1 because there was cooption to check iMac M1.

Apple's recent security update (which was released and then pulled) yesterday changed the Safari User Agent identifier and broke the things you are describing. You can fix websites from Safari by using the Developer Menu and removing the " (a)" from the User Agent string. But nothing you can do with Apps that use Webkit internally like Feedly.

This is not a case of "developers need to fix their websites", it is a case of Apple unexpectedly changing/breaking things which is why they pulled the update.

Apple clearly made a mistake since they pulled the update when the realized how many customers experiences had been broken. They have already announced a fix is in the works.

It is pointless to defend them when they have already admitted their error but have fun.

By the way, it is possible to remove the Security Update that is causing the problems Got to General -> About and select the OS version Info button there is a link at the bottom to remove the security update. That fixed web pages under Safari for me, but Feedly still seems to be having problems.

If some apps are not working then you need to seek assistance from the app developers. It is THEIR responsibility to keep their apps working with current versions of Mac OS, it is not Apple's responsibility to test the tens of thousands of apps 1 by 1. You may have some apps that are simply need updates, all apps have a vehicle for checking if the app is up to date or not.

By the way, I"m not sure if you know but Apple is our host and nothing more for these forums. They do not read these forums, they are simply our hosts and if you want to provide feedback to Apple you can do so by navigating to www.apple.com/feedback. We are all end users just like you.

Did you backup your data before performing the update?

If not, you probably will want to consider doing that from this point forward.

A good backup plan with cloning software will let you restore the system exactly as it was prior to any update.

While Apple has made some installers available via the Terminal with instructions such as these:

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.6.1

You would would only be able to install this on a Catalina system, since the full installer for Big Sur only includes the latest security releases. For Macs released after Big Sur's initial release, only a clone made prior to installing any updates would allow you to restore to prior versions of Big Sur.

No installer can run an older version on top of a newer version.

If you aren't running Ventura, you might want to upgrade to Ventura using one of its earlier releases with the commmand line update suggested above, once you found one that worked.

That's if your software otherwise supports Ventura. Not knowing which OS you are running, it is hard to say what steps would ensure you are functioning again.

"it is a case of Apple unexpectedly changing ..."

That's what rapidly evolving tech companies do ... all of them. It's a constant process and Apple does what Apple wants to do with its assets.

You can either buy into the process or not, but to claim Apple is doing something unexpectedly is to deny the benefits of continuous improvements.

And, it IS the responsibility of developers to make their products work with Apple OS. The other way around is absurd. And no continuous improvement is stagnation.
