How I can change my name in this community?

Hey there!

It may have been a glitch of some sort. My name was changed too, once upon a time. I had not requested a name change, and it wasn’t changed because the name was inappropriate, offensive, etc., because it was the same name that I have now.

So, I suggest you request a name change to a name you want using the email address provided by Limnos at the very top, and we’ll hope it doesn’t happen again!

Oh, and BTW, the only people capable of changing your username are the Moderators, aka Hosts, aka Administrators.

As for why, Apple does not say why. I could see it would get confusing for at least those of us who are regulars here if we kept on changing our usernames. If we replied to somebody using their name and they later changed it, the reply would be confusing for anybody later trying to follow the topic in search of an answer to their own problem that was similar.

It may be the hosts did not contact you about the name change but just made it not to be what it was before. It used to be that name changes had to have a very good reason behind them such as you had made it your full personal name. Casual name changes were not normally accepted. It may be the hosts are finding a middle ground between having to handle many causal name changes and meeting a need that a name not be what it was before.
