In general, No. However, if you had automatic iCloud backups enabled and the phone is connected to Wi-Fi and power continuously it will back up once a day.

Automatic iCloud backups occur … well … automatically with or w/o your presence.

(Assuming Power Adapter and WiFi are provided)

”Manual” iCloud backups require access to the phone.

Hello ~ Settings >> AppleID ( Your Name ) iCloud >> iCloud Backup. You will be able to see the last update.
