How can I tell what Generation Number is on my MacBook Pro, 2.9 GHz, Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Core i7,
256 HD, 16 GB memory 1600 MHz DDR3, macOS Catalina, Version 10.15.7. I did numerous searches and only get the specifications for that model and not the Generation.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Your input was needed. The results showed that the MacPro's DO NOT HAVE a Generation Number associated with it. I called Apple and they verified it. The Generation Number only applies to the iPads.

Are you trying to find the date of manufacture? I don't know what a "generation number" is.
No, Not the date of manufacture. The generation number i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.
