Certain Child’s apps won’t update

When I try to update some (not all) of my child’s apps they have a wheel spinning and just go back to saying “update” again. I have tried signing into my account in the App Store and it still doesn’t work. This is extremely frustrating. I can’t download under his account OR my account. I’ve tried restarting the iPad several times. Please help, this is absurd.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. There are some great steps in the following guide that could help to resolve this issue: If you can’t download or update apps on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support


In addition to the steps in that guide, complete these steps too:


  • Make sure your child's iPad is fully updated. Updates can help by installing bug fixes and they include security updates as well. If an update is needed, back up first. This guide has both steps: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
  • Make sure the date and time are set correctly as that can affect secure connections. To check tap Settings > General > Date & Time. If any changes are made in this area, restart the iPad before trying to update those apps: Change the date and time on iPad - Apple Support
