Continuity Camera not working

I followed all the "Continuity Camera" article from Apple exactly and it works in the sense it connects and allows me to switch camera to my iPhone 13 Pro Max's camera. I have a 2020 Macbook Air M1 and like mentioned earlier, a iPhone 13 Pro Max. Everything is up to date software-wise (Ventura 13.4.1 and iOS 16.5.1). I've reset both devices, made them trust each other, plugged them together. My problem is that the iPhone camera just shows up as a black screen on both Photo Booth and FaceTime. Nothing I tried recommended from the Apple article has fixed the issue. Has anyone had this problem? If so, did you fix it?
