Music stored in Documents

My music library was moved, a year or so ago, from an old MacBook to a new iMac. Now having storage issues on the iMac and see that the music seems to be in 2 places - Documents and Music. Can I delete the material stored in Documents without affecting my music library?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.14

Penarth,

To see which copy of the file iTunes/Music is using, right-click the song in the library and choose "Show in Finder." If you have another copy of the song somewhere on your hard rive, iTunes/Music does not need it.

Before you undertake any mass deletes, make sure you verify what's what. In particular, are those copies in Documents truly duplicates, or are any of them in use by Music?
