How can I get iCloud photos shared album invitations by email?

A friend shared an icloud photo album with me, and I didn't see the invitation for a while. I was expecting to get an email but didn't get an email about it. The only way I noticed was that I set up shared albums on my Mac, then I had a notification within the Photos app.

How can I get these invitations by email?
