Apple Music preferences

There is no reset preferences option. A common suggestion is to delete your profile and set it up again, but you would want to be careful with that option if you do not want to remove your playlists that you have created or songs you downloaded.

It may be best to just "Dislike" the music suggestions that come up from the genre you are not interested in any more. You can do this by each song or by going to the Artist and uncheck the Star icon showing you that it is one of your Favorite artists.

Have you tried going to the Artist page of some of the Genre that are playing and remove the Favorite selection that looks like a star? These would be some of the Artists that it asked you about when you first set up Apple Music. If an Artist is starred as a Favorite, Apple Music may play similar artist even if you had chosen to dislike some of the songs from a favorite Artist.

To get to the Artist page where it shows you the Favorite start, you may have to select the Search option on bottom and type in the name, then choose the one that says "Artist".
