I suddenly can't use Microsoft Word. I tried to download new app, but it says I already have it. Then it came up with pages of explanation which to my 70 y.o. non-nerd brain was gibberish. Can you please help me understand what I need to do to type a simple document.

i simply just go to iCloud.com/pages and type my documents.
Might you have access to this product using a subscription? Might that subscription have expired?

Try and go to your apps folder, and click word, if it is allready installed it should be there, and see what happens if you try to open It
