Unexpected question mark on file

Finder v13.4 marks files in either list or icon view with a white exclamation point in a red circle.

It appears on every file of every type in my user space (/Macintosh HD/Users/<me>/), both on the disk and in cloud storage, but not files on SMB mounts or attached USB drives.

This just started happening today. What's the cause and how can I get rid of it?

Mac mini, 13.4

The only one I'm *not* using is iCloud. ;-)

Trying out Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, pCloud, Box, and iDrive Cloud. They've all been playing nicely together for a few days with Finder, an SMB volume, and an attached Seagate drive, plus TimeMachine. See examples:

Interesting fact on further inspection: No red icons on Dropbox or OneDrive files, and just a few on Box. And none on system folders (/Library, etc.) or other users, but still on every single one on the startup drive under my username.
