Struggles

Can anybody try to help with this ongoing battle I've had regarding fighting the version updates? Currently im stick on Yosemite and most functions of my laptop are simply not functional, im hoping updating to a newer os would fix some of my issues but that is out of my skill since there is no "system updates" icon within "system preferences" so i have to use the app store version which does not indicate any available updates what do i do from here?

As @dialabrain stated, the MacBook Air early-2015 is compatible with macOS Monterey. The minimum RAM requirement is 4 Go but I would recommend that you have at least 8 Go and 16 Go or more would be ideal ( > About this Mac will tell you how much you have.)

You will find the download link in this article: How to download and install macOS - Apple Support.

A word of caution: macOS Catalina no longer supports 32-bit applications (32-bit app compatibility with macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 and later - Apple Support). If you have some 32-bit applications, you’ll need to upgrade them to 64-bit, which may incur a cost. If you wish to keep your 32-bit applications, do not go beyond macOS Mojave.
