I bought a gift card to put on my iPhone. I have redeemed it, but it will not let me use the money now.

Apple Gift cards are for the purchase of Apple products and services only. Gift cards are non-transferable and non refundable. The funds on your gift card may be added to your Apple ID account, but again, only usable for Apple products and services.

As has been explained you can use an Apple Gift card ONLY for purchasing Apple product and services, nothing else. You cannot get money out of it. It would be the same as trying to buy a hamburger from Wendy’s using McDonald’s gift cards.
