If iPhone or Apple Watch could easily trigger Crash Detection, there would be false positives. No one would want to use the feature if it's going off when you're not really in a crash. You also run into the possibility of accidentally calling emergency services, which takes them away from real emergencies.

It doesn't matter what you need it for. Apple has tested the feature and continues to do tests and improvements to the software. There is no way to "test" this feature unless you want to crash some cars, which again, is not recommended.

People on YouTube are deliberately crashing cars for content and views. They know it will get views and I'd argue that's the sole purpose of the video, not to test the feature itself.

You might contact an organization like the NHTSA. (If you are in the US).

For a legitimate academic purpose, they might let you put your cellphone in one of their crash tests.
