Universal control between two Mac's keeps losing its connection

I am on a Apple M2 Mac Studio and connect to my MacBook Pro (2019) - both running Ventura 13.4.1 and I have each computer link to an external display that is next to each other in a dual display setup. I started using the feature to link my mouse and keyboard to my MacBook so that I can share mouse and keyboard and can easily move between the two computers/displays.

This works great for a few min but then disconnects. I don't always realized but when I quickly want to move over to MacBook screen then I need to relink the mouse & keyboard under the Preferences - Display again.

I there time limit or a setting to set to keep connection alive. MacBook is not going to sleep either since the screen is on right next to the other one.
