AirPods Pro revealing undercover location of his owner
If a friend wants to test your Airpods and has paired them once with their iPhone, they can now see the location of the AirPods Pro in the "Where is" app.
He can locate the Airpods even if they are not listed as one of his iCloud devices anymore and even if they have been unpaired in the Bluetooth menu.
The owner of the Airpods is no longer aware of this. The owner can now be located by the former temporary user via his Airpods.
Is this intentional or just some kind of security hole that needs to be fixed? How can the owner prevent this unwanted location after his Airpods have been paired with someone else's iPhone?
The technology opens up a lot of room for abuse. For example, someone could briefly connect someone else's Airpods to their iPhone and then permanently locate them without the owner noticing anything.
