my iCloud account has lost a bunch of my emails

i cannot find about 1 years worth of emails on my iCloud account

this is happening on an MacBook air using apple mail

even if i log into the server directly using iCloud via a browser - they are gone

the server settings does not have a delete function except for junk so i assume all emails should be there

the emails missing are primarily for 2021 and 2022

before and after that are there

any suggestions?

See the article If emails appear to be missing in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

If the problem persists, you may need to rebuild a mailbox.

If you set up Time Machine to back up files on your Mac, you can use the backups to restore content that Mail downloaded (based on options set in Mail and on your Mac). See Restore items backed up with Time Machine.

See Search for emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

  • Search a timeframe or range of dates: Type “date” followed by a colon and a date range, such as “date: 05/09/21-05/10/21”.
