Some time ago, on my MacBook Pro it was possible to move via Trackpad, in the Finder, a file on a folder, wait a moment, see the sub folders, move to the desired one and drop the file.
Now instead I don't see the sub folder anymore.
Is there a way to recover the visualization of the sub folders?

Did you try remove and replace the folder in the Sidebar?

Start up in Safe Mode, check to see if it works or not, then restart normally. Did it help?

Differentily from "before", now I must click on the trackpad once hover over a folder. This opens the sub folders I can choose from.

I'm happy you found a workaround, but I don't have to "click on the trackpad" for a folder I hover over to have it open.
You are right. As I wrote, I "before" didn't even have to click. And even on my wife's Air it is enough to hover over the folder.
It is likely a setting in the trackpad menu: guess which.

I can't possibly guess. I already explained where to find the settings for spring-loading folders on the first page of this thread.

Did you ever check the spring-loading settings to make sure they were enabled and adjust the speed?
These controls determine how the folders respond when dragging. If you can show a screenshot of what you see there in your case, maybe we can advise better. You want a delay that is not too long but also probably your don’t “spring loaded”to be bee too fast.
Also: I am not sure if it applies to the Sidebar, but if spring loaded folders are too slow you can activate them manually just by pressing the space bar: start dragging and when over the folder you want, press the space bar without releasing the mouse button.

I don't think it's a matter of slowness: sub folders just don't appear.
I found an acceptable workaround (clicking on the folder to show its sub folders). Your suggestion - using space bar - works as well.

I have the same issue on Ventura. You probably have your files/folders organized into groups in the list view. Like you clicked 'sort by kind' and it then categorized your files into groups. I bet the drag and drop works properly if you 'sort by name' or even turn off the grouping. You can tell when the little arrows show up next to the folders.
I hate this problem. It does not happen on Catalina. The "spring-loading" is on and the "force click haptic" is off, etc. I called Apple about this today actually and the tech said he will message engineering.
I've found it but I don't undestand how these controls can help me for this issue.
Spring loading is the function that opens the folder when you hover over it. You must enable Spring Loading and set the delay to whatever you like.
