Macbook Virus?

So i have two macbooks, an old macbook pro, and my mother has a macbook of her own , it’s much newer not sure the exact model. There has been an issue the past 3 days where neither of our macbooks can connect to Google.com. At first, the issue was fixed by using Google Chrome instead of Safari, but now neither are working. MY macbook had an issue with a Yahoo Redirect Browser Extension that I fixed, however Google.com still doesn’t work. It’s weird tho, as it has OCCASIONALLY connected to google for brief moments, but ultimately lost the ability to connect again. Unsure if this is a virus of some sort?
