Ventura 13.4.1 MacBook Air M2 cannot get time machine icon to appear in top menu

I've gone through all the settings and all the preferences to allow the icon to appear in the finder menu bar and nothing. I had seen another post on this earlier with all the suggestions and checked them all and it still does not appear. I can open Time Machine via the app but I have no way to check if something is backing up or not.

There must be another reason other than the posts earlier that had suggestions for showing it etc. I've been through all of those.

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 13.4

I believe I stumbled upon the solution by accident. I went into the control center and started turning off the icons I could see in the finder top menu and when I turned of "Show battery" the time machine icon appeared. I turned the Show battery back on and it stayed just to the left of the battery status. So that is definitely a bug and not a preference setting. Just an FYI for anyone else. BTW I used to manage a support group at Apple in Elk Grove California.
