any idea why time would get stuck on wi-fi, and notes search feature would not function on that connection as well?

this morning , i noticed that while on wi-fi, and also in sleep do not disturb, the

time did not change on my phone, and i could not search for notes. the note

search feature said i did not have any notes. i restarted the phone, and needed

to switch to data. I saw something before switching to data connection like when i got outside of the lock screen, and resetting the phone, that in one display, the time was displaying correctly. please advise .

You did a great job going through a workaround to resolve the issue temporarily. We recommend that you check for any updates for your iPhone next. To do this, check out the steps below:

Update your iPhone or iPad

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.

2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.

3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

i understand that ios updates are recommended to fix any potential bugs, yet this issue has not happened before. it hasn’t happened since that moment. i am curious if there are any other ideas? it seems unusual that the phone was able to identify these features connected to data but not on the wireless connection at that moment. so it is logical there is some setting that was not working.

To make sure we're on the same page, are you saying this only happened the one time? While it would difficult for us to speculate on what could've happened for what sounds like a one-off issue, updating is definitely a great step in a case like that. If the issue does occur, we can then rule out running older software as a potential cause.

Yes, it only happened one time. I am hesitant, since operating systems cannot always be rolled back on iphones.
