How to export Spreadsheet text data from multiple cells as a text file?

There is no export function for this and I could not find a copy and paste technique that worked.

If I use csv or tsv, Pages opens them as spreadsheets, not text separated by commas or tabs.

Thanks!

CSV is a text format where the columns are separated by commas. Pages sees a CSV file as tabular data and will turn it into a table.

  1. Copy the range of cells
  2. Make a new TextEdit document (TextEdit app) and set it to plain text (in the Format menu)
  3. Paste into the TextEdit document. It will be in tabular form, with tabs between cells, but will not be a "table".
  4. Copy/Paste that to Pages

You can do the same thing using a text box in Pages, instead of using TextEdit. Paste into a text box then copy/paste from there to the sheet/page. Then delete the text box.
