can I play 4K video on my MBP M1 2021

I'm getting ready to sign up for nugs.net and have an option for live 4K video. Does my laptop support that?

BTW, I'm running Ventura 13.4.1

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.4

Yes. It will scale to the resolution of your MBP's display... which is phenomenal and pretty close to 4k anyway.

Yes. Although your Mac will play 4k video content, be advised the resolution of your MBP's internal display is less than that. 3456 x 2234 to be exact, for your 16" model.

To enjoy true 4k content you need a suitable external monitor. Refer to Use an external display with your MacBook Pro - Apple Support.

I can't be sure about that. Although I understand Sony's "360 Reality Audio" is similar to Apple's Spatial Audio which definitely works on your Mac, I do not know if your AirPods (for example) would decode that format.

As far as your MBP is concerned, all I can be completely certain of is if audio content is encoded for Spatial Audio, then its hardware can handle it.

Thank you, John. For now, I don't have an external monitor. Does this mean that I can go ahead and sign up for the 4K nugs.net option and the image quality will be better than the HD version but not up to the 4K version. That is, it will be supported as best it can, versus not playing at all because I should have selected the HD version.
